Facial recognition is spreading in Canada

The daily La Presse revealed last week that Bell was trying to sell businesses a facial recognition system capable of verifying people’s identities in real time and monitoring their behavior continuously. Presented as sensational, this news is, on the contrary, quite banal. There are 770 million digital cameras in the world and a growing number of them are equipped with facial recognition systems. Facial recognition is accused of being both inaccurate and dangerous, in a pinch it is taxed as “racist” technology: what is it really? To know more, listen to Jean-Guy Rens’ column on Radio VM dated March 3, 2020.
