Should we ban facial recognition?

Last week, the Quebec Liberal Party demanded that the government impose a moratorium on facial recognition software in public bodies and private companies. This position is extreme, yet it is not isolated. In July 2019, the city of San Francisco decided to completely ban the use of facial recognition by the government. Can we do without facial recognition in hospitals and homes for the elderly, in the search for children victims of sexual or other violence, etc. To know more, listen to Jean-Guy Rens’ column on Radio VM dated March 9, 2020.
